Screening of RESILIENCE and DJ Holiday CD Release Party
Join us for a screening of French director ARNO BITSCHY’s compelling depiction of the struggles and triumphs of Detroit in the time between the bankruptcy declaration and the Mayor’s 2015 State of the City speech. .Bitschy captures Detroiters speaking about what’s bad in their city (foreclosures and water shut-offs) and what’s good (community, creativity, and toughness), with a captivating soundtrack provided by local jazz and rap artists, including DJ HOLIDAY AND BAND, who will perform following the film and Q&A. Presented in partnership with PROGRESSIVE ARTS and CINEMA DETROIT.

Andreas Deja Discusses THE NINE OLD MEN
2015 ‘Disney Legend’ award-winning animator ANDREAS DEJA offers a special book discussion covering Walt Disney’s team of core animators, who he affectionately called his “Nine Old Men.” Known for creating Disney’s most famous works — Deja being an apprentice to the Nine Old Men himself — take a journey with him as he discusses their techniques that include figure drawing, acting, story structure, and character animation. Revealing rare drawings and clips that delve into the Disney animation history, our featured guest will help give us first-hand insight as to what went into creating these timeless characters from some of Disney’s most memorable features; with a wink of inspiration for you to add a little magic into your next sketch or artwork.
